Aronofsky Protests Ringling Bros.

Darren Aronofsky recently sent a letter to New York’s Taconic Investments in protest of the company allowing Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus use of their Coney Island property during the summer. In the letter, the director states:

It is regrettable that you chose to give Ringling—a circus that has a long history of animal abuse and neglect and that has had unnumerable run-ins with federal authorities—a free ride. I ask that you reconsider this decision or at the very least impose restrictions on the use of the land in order to reduce the suffering of elephants, tigers and other animals who will be housed on the property.
