Aronofsky Planning Heist Movie Based on 2006 Securitas Depot Robbery
According to Variety and /Film, XYZ Films, Time Inc. Studios and Protozoa Pictures have partnered to produce “an indie heist thriller based on the daring $85 million robbery at the Securitas Depot in Tonbridge, England, in February 2006.”
Kerry Williamson is handling the screenplay, tentatively titled Breaking The Bank (adapted from Jon Wertheim’s Sports Illustrated magazine article of the same name and Howard Sounes’ nonfiction book Heist: The Inside Story of the World’s Biggest Robbery). Darren Aronofsky is currently attached to produce and possibly direct. Aronofsky stated, “The story is a very unique British heist tale with colorful London characters. I’ve always wanted to shoot in England and Kerry is the perfect writer to bring authenticity to this outrageous true bank job.”
