Screenwriter Christopher Kyle claims on his website that Darren Aronofsky is attached to direct Serena, “a dark love story about George Pemberton and his wife Serena, a pair of ruthless timber barons trying to exploit their land before the government claims it for a national park.” The project is reportedly in pre-production with 2929 Entertainment. Should this claim be true, the question now is: will it be the Securitas heist or this project following Black Swan? [Empire]

According to Moviehole, a Phoenix Pictures representative reported that the RoboCop remake is on hold. Mary Parent of MGM wants a 3D film and Darren Aronofsky is not interested in the technology (remember). Of course, this could all be due to the possible sale of MGM. Who knows where the franchise will land in the end, but Aronofsky fans might as well let this one go for the time being.

In an interview with Little White Lies, Clint Mansell confirmed he is working on the score for the forthcoming Black Swan. Mansell reported, “one of the main ideas [Darren and I have] got is building the entire score out of elements from [Tchaikovsky’s] Swan Lake.” However, no solid direction has been set as Mansell is just now providing the “nuts and bolts” for principal photography. Benjamin Millepied of the New York City Ballet will choreograph the dance sequences in Black Swan. Darren Aronofsky commented: “My sister was a dancer growing up and I was always in the background, so I always thought it would be a really interesting world to film in. And after wrestling and working with maybe the lowest form of art [in The Wrestler], it was kind of interesting to move to the highest form of art … It’s taken a long time to develop an understanding of the details and the more you get exposed to it, the more complexity you see.” [WWD]
