Warpaint completed its first project in January with director Darren Aronofsky, who directed the upcoming campaign for Revlon featuring Emma Stone and Halle Berry.

With Aronofsky busy with Noah, the project seems to have moved on to Gareth Evans (The Raid).

Paramount Interested in Aronofsky's George Washington Film

Paramount Interested in Aronofsky's George Washington Film:

Paramount Pictures is in negotiations to acquire “The General,” a George Washington pic with Darren Aronofsky attached to produce and direct from a script by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage.

…

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources tell Variety that the script is more of an “Unforgiven”-like tale rather than a straight historical drama. Paramount had no comment on the negotiations.

Could this be something like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter? A tongue-in-cheek Aronofsky film would be interesting. I suspect with a title like The General, it’s probably not going to be, though. It seems Aronofsky likes “The” titles (The Fountain, The Wrestler and was allegedly once attached to The Fighter).

Update: Looks like the man himself weighed in on Twitter. Aronofsky calls the script a “a raw portrait of the man becoming an American” and is “not sure where the Unforgiven comparison comes from.”

A nondescript photo from Darren Aronofsky’s Instagram...

A nondescript photo from Darren Aronofsky’s Instagram account with the caption “pre-production begins”.
Update 1: It’s rumored that Liam Neeson, Jennifer Connelly and Saoirse Ronan (Hanna) have joined the cast. Though, we haven’t seen an official announcement.

Update 2: According to the press release: “The movie will begin shooting this July in Iceland and New York.”

Clint Mansell Largo Gig Now April 4-6

Clint Mansell Largo Gig Now April 4-6:
As we mentioned back in January, Clint Mansell will perform his soundtrack work for the first time in Los Angeles this week. He will be “accompanied by a nine-piece ensemble, including members of the L.A.-based Sonus Quartet”. Tickets are sold out (and I’m East Coast), but I’ll be watching for videos popping up on YouTube later this week.

Darren Aronofsky Denies Judy Garland Rumor, People Forgot About April Fools Day

Darren Aronofsky Denies Judy Garland Rumor, People Forgot About April Fools Day:
Over the weekend, a rumor that Darren Aronofsky would direct Anne Hathaway in a Judy Garland biopic started spreading. It seems many people forgot about April Fools Day. Aronofsky posted a tweet dispelling the rumor as “not true”. The bigger news in this story is that Darren Aronofsky has a verified Twitter account.

Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ Launching Finally With Russell Crowe Set For Biblical Star

Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ Launching Finally With Russell Crowe Set For Biblical Star:

A formal announcement should come this next week. The once hoped-for spring start is now July, sources say. Russell Crowe is set to float the boat as Noah in Darren Aronofsky’s edgy Biblical re-telling of Noah’s Ark.

Probably the best chapter in the book focuses on the history of Batman adaptations, including Darren Aronofsky and Frank Miller‘s adaptation of Batman: Year One starring Clint Eastwood.

/Film has an excerpt from said chapter.

Russell Crowe in talks to board 'Noah'

Russell Crowe in talks to board 'Noah':

After being courted for months, Russell Crowe is in negotiations to play the title character in Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic “Noah.”

Darren Aronofsky is ready to set sail on Noah, the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. I’m hearing that the Black Swan director wants Russell Crowe to play the title role in the New Regency/Paramount film.

I have also heard Aronofsky wants The Grey star Liam Neeson for another role.

<strike>Crowe is rumored to be wanted for the RoboCop remake, as well.</strike> The Neeson role sounds like it could be the “villain”. Regardless, it appears a lot of details are in flux and none of this news should be taken as fact.
